To remove the simple swap backplate:

1. Turn off the HMC and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
2. Remove the cover. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Cover.)
3. Pull the hard disk drives out of the HMC slightly to disengage them from the backplate. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive.)

Start the video ...

4. Disconnect the two blue signal cables from the system board, and disconnect the power cable from the power-supply backplane card.
5. Press the locking tab and lift the backplate out of the mounting channel slightly. Then, disconnect the power cable from the backplate (the power cable that is closest to the side of the HMC).
6. Slide the backplate completely out of the mounting channel and disconnect the second power cable from the backplate.
7. Feed the two blue signal cables through the openings in the chassis and remove the entire backplate.
