To remove the front USB connector assembly:

1. Turn off the HMC and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
2. Unlock and remove the side cover. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Cover.)
3. Remove the lower bezel. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Lower Bezel.)
4. Remove the upper bezel. (Refer to Removing and Replacing the Upper Bezel.)

5. Press and hold the drive cage release tab. Then, partially rotate the drive cage away from the chassis, leaving enough room for you to reach the USB cable.
6. Disconnect the front USB cable from the system board, noting the routing of the cable. (Refer to Model 7042-C06 HMC Features - System-board Internal Connectors for the location of the front USB connector.)
7. Press down and hold the release tab on the top of the front USB housing. Then, tilt the top of the housing away from the chassis and lift the housing out of the opening in the chassis.
8. Carefully pull the front USB cable out of the opening in the chassis.
9. Squeeze the spring clips on the sides of the front USB connector assembly and pull the assembly out of the back of the housing.
10. If you are instructed to return the front-panel assembly, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials supplied to you for shipping.
